Get Sober Safely

🎗️ Red Ribbon Week: Expanding Education and Awareness This October, the TENS Foundation partnered with the Opiate Free Island Partnership to take part in Red Ribbon Week, the nationwide campaign promoting drug-free living and positive choices. Together, we launched an innovative pilot program at Deer Isle High School designed to educate students about Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) and Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome (AWS). During the week, students viewed The Tram Documentary during a designated class period and completed a brief three-question survey to assess their awareness of AWS. Over the following two months, they will continue their learning journey by viewing seven educational videos from our TENS Foundation video library, each focused on key aspects of AUD and AWS. After completing the series, students will retake the same survey to measure the knowledge gained.

By extending Red Ribbon Week into a two-month learning initiative, this program ensures that students receive comprehensive, lasting education on the realities of substance use and recovery. If successful, the TENS Foundation plans to expand this impactful model to other school districts in the future.

The Tram Evans North Star Foundation (TENS Foundation) is proud to announce a groundbreaking partnership with Liberty Bay Recovery, a leading alcohol detox and rehabilitation center in Portland, Maine. This collaboration expands access to life-saving treatment by providing financial support for uninsured and underinsured individuals seeking alcohol detox and rehabilitation. Together, the organizations are working to remove financial barriers that often prevent those struggling with Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) from receiving the care they need. Through this initiative, the TENS Foundation will help cover treatment costs for qualifying patients, ensuring that cost is never a reason to delay recovery. “This partnership represents a significant step forward in our mission to help individuals affected by AUD get sober safely, regardless of their financial circumstances,” said Charlie Evans, President of the TENS Foundation. Liberty Bay Recovery, known for its comprehensive, medically supervised, and evidence-based approach, shares this commitment to helping individuals rebuild their lives through lasting recovery.  Read More
